Fitchburg Municipal Airport is a public airport located 3 miles (5 km) southeast of the central business district of Fitchburg, a city in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. This airport is owned by the City of Fitchburg.〔 The airport also serves as a base for the Fitchburg Pilots Association/EAA chapter 1454. Fitchburg Municipal Airport covers an area of which contains two paved runways: 2/20 measuring 3,504 x 75 ft (1,068 x 23 m) and 14/32 measuring 4,510 x 100 ft (1,375 x 30 m).〔 The airport is actively working towards expanding runway 14/32 to a length of 5000 ft to allow larger jets to use the airport. The airport is also served by two FBOs Autumn Air services and Twin City Airmotive.〔http://fitchburgairport.com/fbos/〕 The airport is home to FCA flight center which operates a fleet of various Cessna aircraft for flight training and Cirrus aircraft for rentals. For 12-month period ending November 1, 2006, the airport had 168,025 aircraft operations, an average of 460 per day: 98% general aviation, 2% air taxi and <1% military. There are 146 aircraft based at this airport: 91% single engine, 3% multi-engine, 1% jet aircraft, 2% helicopters, 1% gliders and 1% ultralight.〔
